Navigating a child’s cancer treatment can be complicated and frightening. When kids and their families travel to New York for treatment far away from their home, they can quickly find themselves lost in a whirlwind of new information like new treatment plans, new doctor's names, changes in timelines— all of this in the middle of still processing the fear and sadness that come with the diagnosis. Suddenly in an unfamiliar city, life for families gets turned upside down.
We welcome first-time visitors to New York, but understand it can be overwhelming to maneuver around a brand new city. Our navigation program is one way that the House can say, "We are here to help you, so you can focus on them."
When you first arrive at the House on East 73rd and First Avenue, a member of our team will be there to assist with check-in and to take you on an initial tour of the House before getting you settled into your guestroom.
Ronald McDonald House New York houseguests receive complimentary transportation to and from their doctor's appointments and hospital visits for the duration of their stay. For further instruction around hospital transportation, please visit the Transportation Page of the website or ask the front desk if you have more questions. Our goal is to help RMH-NY families easily acclimate, so they can focus on what really matters.
