RBC Capital Markets, National Hockey League greats of the New York Rangers, & the Garden of Dreams Foundation join forces to present virtual event & raise critical funds to support families in the fight against pediatric cancer

NEW YORK, April 21, 2021 Ronald McDonald House New York (RMH-NY) will host its 27th Annual Skate with the Greats virtually on April 21 at 7:00 PM, which will raise critical funds to advance its mission of providing temporary housing, care and support for pediatric cancer patients and their families.

The event – sponsored by RBC Capital Markets – will feature an honorary New York Rangers jersey presentation to a family at RMH-NY, the New York Rangers Fanatic Madison Squares Trivia Game, a New York Rangers Fanatic Fan Cam video contest, a silent auction and more.

“Skate with the Greats is an incredibly special event for our organization, and we are thrilled to present a unique virtual program with the iconic New York Rangers. We are grateful to RBC Capital Markets, the Garden of Dreams Foundation, MSG and all who have partnered with us to bring this year’s digital event to life,” said Ruth C. Browne, president and CEO of Ronald McDonald House New York. “Funds raised during the event will be critically important in supporting our families as they experience the most difficult fight of their lives during a global pandemic. We encourage all New Yorkers to help our families in the battle against pediatric cancer by joining us on April 21.”

“RBC is honored to sponsor Skate with the Greats for our twelfth year running. Our longstanding partnership with Ronald McDonald House New York was tested this year by the pandemic, but our commitment to raise awareness and provide support for pediatric cancer patients and their families never wavered,” said Bobby Grubert, Managing Director of RBC Capital Markets. “We are dedicated to helping our clients thrive and communities prosper. While this is currently happening in a virtual capacity, we look forward to being back at the House volunteering, serving dinners to families and getting to know the kids behind those brave, smiling faces.”

During the virtual event, Jackson and his family will speak about their experience staying at the House over the past three years while 5-year-old Jackson has been receiving treatment. In addition to providing housing in close proximity to Jackson’s treatment, RMH-NY has helped his mother Crystal navigate daily challenges while also providing various programs for his sister Abigail to enjoy at the House. Additionally, RMH-NY made it possible for the family to experience two New York Rangers games together during their stay at the House, which was particularly special for Abigail as she is an avid fan of the team. During the program, the New York Rangers will present the family with an honorary team jersey.

Following the presentation, a special tribute will be made to RMH-NY Board Member James F. Flanagan, COO/vice chairman and managing partner at PwC, for his contributions and ongoing commitment to Ronald McDonald House New York.
