Primary Schools

school kids with their arms around each other

Some of our most dedicated supporters are also our youngest! Ronald McDonald House New York offers many opportunities for students to help kids with cancer.

Parents Pantry

Though staying at our House relieves families of a great financial burden, they still face the costs of food, paper goods, and other basic products while they stay with us. Sometimes, their child’s treatment requires them to remain with us for months, or even years, at a time. To alleviate some of their expenses, we ask schools throughout the metro area to help us collect food and staples for our Parents Panty. If your school is ready to help, please contact Terry Bovin at for more information.

Ronald McDonald House Club

Students are invited to form Ronald McDonald House Clubs. This is a great way for students to come together for a great cause and help the families that depend on us.

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Contact Caitlin Conklin at Ronald McDonald House New York to let her know that you’re starting your Club. Ask how you can help. You can write to Caitlin at
  2. Talk to your principal, dean of students, or student activities director to get your club approved. Ideally, your club should be affiliated with your school.
  3. Choose an advisor to oversee your club.
  4. Brainstorm ways to recruit new members with your advisor. Find out if your school has a club fair, or simply put up flyers and spread the word.
  5. Select club leaders who can find out where help is needed the most at the House and plan accordingly.
  6. Brainstorm project ideas! Popular ideas include hosting bake sales, winter coat drives, carnivals, wish list drives, or making welcome bags and care packages for our families. Your club can raise awareness in your school!

Pop Tabs Program

Ronald McDonald House New York collects and recycles pop tabs, and we need your help! Your participation helps raise funds and awareness about families battling pediatric cancer, and helps the environment. We serve as a collection point for pop tabs all year long, but students can build excitement around two major collections of pop tabs: the first in April on Earth Day, and again in September at our Block Party. Please feel free to contact us about setting up your drop-off at the House, and arranging for a tour for your group of five or fewer. Learn more about our Pop Tab Palooza here.

If you’d like to mail the pop tabs that you’ve collected, you can also send them to:

If you have questions or would like to receive a collection box, please email Meredith Lewando at Be sure to include your mailing address.

Wish List Drive

Host a drive to collect items that our families need most! Please see our Amazon wish list to view our current needs.

Kids Charity Fun Run

Each year in November, we host our Kids Charity Fun Run in Central Park. Kids from schools all over the five boroughs send kids to run together for a good cause. Following our motto of "Kids Helping Kids," this is a great opportunity for kids to have fun and raise money for an important cause! Learn more about both the run and the fundraising prizes here.

If you have any questions about the run or how to participate, please email Tony Cardiello at
